My sister (from NJ) just came back from a session with the lawyers and mediator. She said that she had verbally agreed to receiving $290/wk for kids age 8 and 12. Husband was earning about 125000/yr + bonus until he got "layed off" from job he hated. (I think he begged for a deal to get severance so he could relo to be by his girlfriend). Now he is conveniently unemployed and will be living very cheaply in FL.
My sister gave up her career, helped raise his two kids from a prior marriage, and has no job. She has to buy him out of the house to keep the kids in the only house they have ever lived in....I could go on and on but I won't. I just think $290/wk for BOTH kids sounds like a pittance. She just wants it to be over to avoid more legal fees...Should she be entitled to more?? You must Login / Register to post a reply.

You have gone so far as to write to an internet board for advice regarding your sister and, in doing so, have painted a picture of how terrible her husband is and how wonderful your sister is. I am sure you are saying even more to your sister in person, feeding her "victim" status and egging her on to get more money and give her husband less time with the kids. Those activities are the very definition of "meddling."

I am not a meddling sister. I am just trying to look out for my sister and my nieces. In case you didn't know it, there are good lawyers and bad lawyers. You should keep your snide remarks to yourself.

She has a lawyer. If her lawyer advised her that this is an appropriate amount, then it probably is, regardless of what strangers on an internet board or her meddling sister thinks.
