I live in Canada and I was married for 25 years and separated 7 years ago. We divorced last year. I am 55 and my ex is 55.
My current agreement requires me to pay and I have been paying 1400.00 a month in spousal support with no child support. This past June I became unemployed and moved back to my home town. She has been accepting 400.00 a month since I became unemployed. Her financial situation is not very good as she only works part time and she spent her settlement while I invested mine. I have retirement savings of about 130,000.00 along with a house worth 60,000.00 and 20,000.00 interest in another house. My debts include a 65,000.00 mortgage and 3000.00 in credit cards. I have been seeking full time employment but have only found a part time job and I am making about 700.00 a month, a whole lot less than I am used to making. I most likely will never find a job that pays as well as my previous position. I remarried last year and my step son is diabetic, we currently have no medical insurance and the cost of the diabetic supplies is quite high. We have been living on savings but they will soon run out and I will have to start dipping into our retirement funds I want to make an application to the court to reduce the amount of support payable. Can anyone advise of what I might expect to be ordered to pay? thanks in advance. You must Login / Register to post a reply.
