You can get a divorce without an attorney but you will be held to the same standard and rules that an attorney must follow under the law. You will be bound to be knowledgeable of the Texas Family Code and all of the legal factors that are used in determining the outcome of your divorce. You will also be bound to draft orders that are enforceable under the law. If you have a small estate with no children this could be done. If children are involved or the estate has assets to divide where other orders may be necessary I would advise you to obtain legal counsel to make sure that these orders are in the appropriate form to be enforceable in the event of a violation later.
