Australian golf legend Greg Norman hasn’t let his rough divorce from Chris Evert slow him down. Less than a year later, he’s already hitched again — to his alleged former mistress.
Norman, 55, secretly married Kirsten Kutner on November 6 on Necker Island, in the British Virgin Islands. The golfer had reportedly had an affair with the now-41-year-old interior designer while he was married to Laura Andrassy.
The golfer told Australian magazine New Idea that all of the guests, a modest group of friends and relatives, wore white and went barefoot for the wedding. “Kirsten walked down the aisle on her own – we were all waiting for her. To me, she is the most beautiful woman in the world. She looked stunning,” the magazine quoted him as saying.
Norman’s son, Gregory Norman Jr., served as the best man in the private ceremony. Kutner’s two daughters, six-year-old Kaya and three-year-old Kelly, were flower girls.
“We wanted something very intimate with just us and the family,” Kutner told New Idea. “It was very relaxed — a beautiful family reunion.”
Norman announced his engagement to Kutner last month. They reunited last year after he separated from Evert, reportedly after a chance meeting in Cairo while Norman was developing a new golf course.
Reactions to the hookup from people who know Norman have been mixed. One source told People: “Kirsten is very much in love with Greg and was quite excited about having such a romantic and beautiful island wedding with their families and closest friends.”
But British tabloid The Daily Mail quoted Andrassy as saying, “I wouldn’t bet on this one lasting,”after the wedding.
Greg Norman married Andrassy in July 1981 and divorced in 2006. They have two children, Morgan Leigh and Gregory Jr. He married tennis superstar Evert in June 2008; the marriage lasted 18 months. Kutner is divorced from a finance executive in Switzerland.
