Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr. and his actress-model wife, Deborah Falconer, filed for divorce after 12 years of marriage, a spokesman for the actor said on April 29. They filed for divorce this week in Los Angeles Superior Court, said publicist Alan Nierob.
The two, who married in 1992 and separated two years ago, have a son, Indio. Although the boy will live with Falconer, “Downey remains very involved in the upbringing of his son,” said Nierob.
The 39-year-old actor will be able to marry again — to his producer fiancee, Susan Levin, whom he met in 2003 during filming on Gothika, in which Downey co-starred with Halle Berry.
Downey, who received a best actor Oscar nomination in 1992 for his role in the film Chaplin, and who won a Golden Globe for his work in the Ally McBeal TV series, has undergone rehabilitation following convictions for cocaine possession and driving under the influence of drugs.
