There are many ways to find a lawyer. One can ask friends or acquaintances for their recommendation or find an attorney through an advertisement. You should then interview two or three lawyers before choosing one to represent you; interviewing more than two or three becomes cumbersome and is overkill. When interviewing a lawyer, try to assess how comfortable you are in that lawyer’s presence. That person will become your new best friend in the upcoming months or longer. Choose a lawyer who encourages you to ask questions, and then answers them honestly, making sure you’ve understood his or her explanation. You won’t always get the answers you want, but you should be able to count on your lawyer to give you the information you need.
