Available on new stands in mid-August, Chicago’s Divorce Magazine is designed to guide people through the complexities of separation and divorce. “To the best of our knowledge,” says Divorce publisher Dan Couvrette, “this is the first magazine of its type in the U.S. No other magazine caters to the needs of people facing the challenges of this difficult transition.”
The premier U.S. issue of this quarterly magazine is targeted at the Chicago market. In Chicago alone, approximately 45,000 people are expected to divorce in 1996. “Our mandate is to provide a unique, friendly resource of vital information and timely advice to help our readers survive — and even thrive — during their divorce,” says editor Diana Shepherd. “Chicago-area experts in the areas of family law, real estate, relationships, and mental and physical health offer sound, practical advice our readers can use.”
By the end of 1999, Divorce Magazine will be launched nationally, making it widely available across the U.S.A. Additional local editions are in the works as well: New York’s Divorce Magazine will launch in December, with local editions in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Washington to follow in the new year.
Priced at just $2.95, Divorce is available on newsstands, through subscription (for a one-year subscription, send $9.47 to 2210 North Halsted, Suite 140, Chicago, IL 60614; or e-mail ([email protected] ); and at places like the Cook, Lake, and Dupage county court systems; social service agencies; E.A.P. offices; clergy and family support groups; as well as the offices of selected lawyers, mediators, therapists, financial planners, and real-estate agents.
About the publishers
The idea for the magazine arose out of publisher Dan Couvrette‘s personal experience. During his own divorce, he realized there was a real need in the marketplace for timely divorce-related information, and this unique publication is the answer. No stranger to magazine publishing, Couvrette has more than two decades’ experience as publisher and associate publisher of award-winning national magazines.
Editor Diana Shepherd is also a publishing-industry veteran. Over the last decade, she has held positions such as Editor and Managing Editor at several award-winning magazines; most recently, she was Associate Editor of a leading Canadian bridal magazine. She has also published numerous lifestyle and travel articles, news pieces, and book reviews in diverse magazines — ranging from Quill & Quire to Toronto Life Fashion to Cottage Life.
