After eight years of separation from his estranged wife, Tracy Morgan has finally decided to make it official. The comedian and actor, who plays dim-witted TV star Tracy Jordan on the Emmy-winning sitcom 30 Rock, filed a divorce petition with Bronx Supreme Court on Friday.
Morgan’s wife, Sabina, announced that she was filing for divorce in January 2008, but apparently nothing came of it. She cited Morgan’s reported drinking problem (and his past charges for driving under the influence) as her reason for wanting to make their split legal.
The Morgans were high-school sweethearts when they married in 1985. They have three sons, Tracy Jr., 23, Malcolm, 22, and Gitrid, 18.
Tracy Morgan was a regular on Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003, and he also starred in his own post-SNL sitcom, The Tracy Morgan Show, for one season. He has been a cast member on 30 Rock, created by Tina Fey, since it debuted in 2006. His upcoming movies include Nailed and A Couple of Dicks.
