As long as famous people date, marry, and break up or divorce, the press will be following them and reporting every detail of their personal lives — sometimes accurately, and sometimes not.
Celebrity Breakup Rumors
A recent USA Today feature offered a brief roundup of celebrity breakup rumors, as well as one rumored re-coupling, that currently dominate the showbiz world’s gossip circuit.
For example, there’s speculation that “Bennifer” alumnus Jennifer Lopez has reunited with a former flame — fellow N.Y.-based Latino singer Marc Anthony, who has also been recovering from a breakup (from wife Dayanara Torres). The pair was recently seen together at a Miami nightclub. However, Anthony’s publicist insisted to USA Today that “as of right now,” J. Lo and Anthony are merely friends. They are recording a new single together, a salsa number, for an upcoming movie starring Lopez titled Shall We Dance?
Another rumor is that Charlie’s Angels star Drew Barrymore’s relationship with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti is on the rocks — because Moretti was allegedly cavorting with another woman at a New York nightclub. But Barrymore’s publicist told USA Today that Moretti’s bandmate, Albert Hammond, was mistaken for him. In addition, Barrymore told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview to appear in its April issue, “I’m so in love with Fabrizio. He is so beautiful.”
Less clear is whether Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz have called it quits. One circulating story has Britney Spears’ former squeeze standing up Barrymore’s Angels co-star at a restaurant in L.A. last month, while another says that Timberlake was angry and jealous when Diaz danced at a club with other men. But the couple was recently spotted kissing on the set of In Her Shoes, Diaz’ next movie. And current, Internet-based rumors claim that pop stars Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have broken up. While some say that the story is false, it turns out that even Knowles’ rep isn’t sure of their status. He told USA Today, “As she didn’t comment on her relationship previously, I can’t imagine that changing.”
If nothing else, one thing is clear: don’t believe everything you read in the gossip news.
