Laurie Metcalf has filed for divorce from husband, Matt Roth.
The 56-year-old actress is best known as Jackie on the 80s and 90s hit Roseanne, where she played as a slightly flaky but still sarcastic sister to Roseanne.
Metcalf’s character Jackie was chronically single and unlucky in love. She was a staple in the Conner family house. She eventually married and then divorced, raising her son, Andy, as a single mother.
The actress married the actor who played her on-screen boyfriend, Fisher, in real life.
Metcalf and Roth met and fell in love on the set of Roseanne. They have three children, 18-year-old Will, 11-year-old Donovan and 6-year-old Mae.
They were married for nearly seven years.
Metcalf cited irreconcilable differences in the divorce filings. Roth is seeking joint legal andphysical custody of their three children.
Laurie is not a stranger to successful, post-marriage parenting arrangements.
She was married to Jeff Perry prior to her marriage to Roth. They later divorced and happily raised daughter Zoe, born in 1984. Together, they co-parented the now adult child.
Metcalf revealed that her relationship with her ex’s wife Linda is so solid and strong. She said she loves her and even calls her, her sister-in-law.
Her ex-husband Perry even made a comment on parenting Zoe with Metcalf and his new wife, Linda. He said the experience was positive.
According to court papers, Metcalf and Roth have been separated since November of 2008.
