Actor, dancer, and singer Jasmine Guy, best known for playing Whitley Gilbert on The Cosby Show spin-off sitcom A Different World, is getting a divorce.
Guy, 46, filed for dissolution on April 3 from Terrence Duckett, her husband of nearly a decade. According to People, Guy cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking primary custody of the couple’s daughter, Imani, 9. She is also seeking spousal support.

E! Online has reported that the actor also wants the court to confirm a number of assets as her own non-marital property. The list includes several bank accounts, the copyright of a book she wrote, production companies, a leased Lexus SUV, some paintings, and numerous items of furniture and jewelry. (The report didn’t clarify what Duckett would be left with, however.)
Guy married Duckett in August 1998.
Other than A Different World, which ran on NBC from 1987 to 1993, Guy’s TV credits include a starring role in Dead Like Me and appearances in Touched by an Angel and Melrose Place. She also has had roles in the ’80s movies School Daze and Harlem Nights and on Broadway in Chicago, Grease, The Wiz, and Leader of the Pack. In 1990, she released an album, Jasmine Guy.
