The on again, off again marriage between actor Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly Buffington-Quaid appears to be off again, now that Buffington-Quaid has filed for legal separation. In May of this year, Buffington-Quaid withdrew divorce papers that she filed in two months earlier in Texas, which claimed that a “discord or conflict of personalities” had rendered her marriage untenable. And despite efforts by the couple to patch things up over the summer, including an elaborate 8th wedding anniversary bash in Bora Bora, it looks as though Buffington-Quaid is once again on the road to being hyphen free. As for why Buffington-Quaid filed for legal separation instead of divorce, it’s becausedivorce law in Californiarequires spouses to reside in the state for at least six months before filing to end their marriage. The couple, who recently moved to the Golden State from Texas, are still a few months shy of the minimum threshold. A statement issued by Randy Quaid’s representative wasprofoundlyuninformative: “Kimberly and Dennis Quaid have decided to legally separate after eight years of marriage. They ask that their privacy and the privacy of their family be respected during this difficult time.” This will be Quaid’s third marriage that doesn’t end happily ever after. Previously, he married (and divorced) actresses P.J. Soles and Meg Ryan. |
