In Colorado, Lauren Bush recently tied the knot with David Lauren, the son of fashion mogul Ralph Lauren.
Bush is the granddaughter and niece of former presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush.
Former president George W. Bush attended the wedding but former president George H.W. and his wife Barbara Bush could not attend due to the location’s high altitude.
The model and philanthropist’s Victorian-style wedding gown was designed by her father-in-law. A horse-drawn carriage brought the bride to the wedding and walked down the aisle with her divorced parents, Sharon and Neil.
According to US Magazine, Cantor Angela Buchdahl of a prominent NYC synagogue conducted the Jewish ceremony.
A representative for George H.W. and Barbara Bush already told ABCNews last week that they will be unable to attend the wedding due to health concerns and the location’s high altitude. But they were able to send a video message that was played during the rehearsal dinner.
Former first lady Laura Bush attended the ceremony, as well as daughters Barbara and Jenna.
Former Governor Jeb Bush was also present plus other members of the Lauren family.
The location’s high altitude wasn’t the only the main concern about the wedding.
In 2003, Lauren’s mother, Sharon Bush, endured an extremely public divorce with George W.’s brother, Neil Bush, after 23 years of marriage. Details about the couple were disclosed in public during the divorce proceedings which was not really of help in uplifting the family’s reputation.
During business trips in Thailand and Hongkong, Neil Bush allegedly had extra marital affairs with several female escorts. In addition to that, he got herpes from one of the encounters. On the other hand, she reportedly extracted his hair to either administer a drug test or place a voodoo curse on him.
After their settlement, Neil Bush hastily got remarried to a former volunteer in Barbara Bush’s office, Maria Andrews.
To distract guests from a possible family drama, the elder Lauren and his wife planned for a rodeo a day after the wedding.
The event has been dubbed Double RL by the designer and was also featured on Oprah. Teepees, cabins and a saloon were made available for the guests at the 17,000-acre Rocky Mountain ranch.
And as for the bride’s name, most likely she will not be known as Lauren Lauren once married.
In Harper’s Bazaar April issue, Lauren said it will most likely be Lauren Bush-Lauren.
