The Clinton family is about to get even closer to their ex-congressperson friends, Edward Mezvinsky and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. That’s because Chelsea Clinton, the only daughter of former U.S. president Bill Clinton and current Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, is going to marry the Mezvinskys’ son.
The younger Clinton and investment banker Marc Mezvinsky announced their engagement on Friday, in an e-mail to their friends. “We… wanted to share that we are engaged!” the message, which Bill Clinton’s charity provided to Reuters, read. “We didn’t get married this past summer, despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us.”
Clinton, 29, and Mezvinsky, 31, have known each other since their teenage years, when Clinton lived in the White House. They both graduated from Stanford University and now live in New York City.
Mezvinsky currently works for 3G Capital Management; he also has past experience with Goldman Sachs. His father, who once represented Iowa in Congress, has served almost five years in prison for fraud and other white-collar crimes. His mother served one term in Congress representing Pennsylvania.
This will be Clinton’s first marriage. She previously has dated Rhodes Scholar Ian Klaus.
