Actress Gillian Anderson, 43, known best for her role as Special Agent Dana Scully on the cult hit TV series The X-Files, has separated from her husband Mark Griffiths.
The couple, who’ve been married for 6 years, have two boys: Oscar, 5 and Felix, 3.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Anderson noted that the break-up was amicable; which, given the children involved, is hopefully the case (and will stay that way).
It’s unclear at this time much the separation is linked to Anderson’s recent public revelation that she is bi-sexual, and has had romantic relationships with women in the past. I decided to talk about it now because someone with whom I was in a relationship a couple of decades ago — a woman — passed away about a year ago,” Anderson told Out magazine in March. “I was talking about her and, in the context of the gentle conversation we were having, I thought I would say that I have had a couple of relationships with women, but that wasn’t my experience because I did have a choice. I always knew I still liked boys.” In addition to her work on the X-Files, Anderson has starred in the British TV series Any Human Heart, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA award. Later this year, she’ll be returning to prime time as Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson in The Fall. |
