A judge in France ruled out that Jean-Louis B. is solely at fault in the divorce proceedings. And for all the orgasms his wife didn’t get to have during that time period, he must pay her 10,000 euros as compensation.
Did the judge make the right the decision? 10,000 euros seems pretty low if you’re going to put a monetary amount on all the sex that they didn’t have.
An average French citizen has sex 121 times annually, which means 2,541 sexual encounters over the course of 21 years. 10,000 divided by 2,541 is equal to 4 euros per sexual activity.
Why was sex the sole factor in the dissolution of their marriage if it was worth so little to the wife?
No one should be obliged to have sex against their will, male or female. Being obligated to have sex is similar to some laws that still exist in other parts of the world. Laws that say raping someone is okay as long as you’re married to them.
And the sad thing is most victims of these laws are women.
So to have sex, how to do it and when to do it should be a personal decision between the husband and the wife. If a couple cannot find any solution that works for both of them, then perhaps they shouldn’t be together.
