It’s now more accurate to say “JonORKate Plus 8,” because on 18 December the Gosselin’s divorce was finalized according to Kate’s lawyer Mark Momijan, who provided details in an interview with TVGuide.com. The couple had been married for 10 years.
As stressful as the divorce has been for the couple and, no doubt,to some extent for their eight children, the tragedy and trauma that could have unfolded was mitigated by the fact that neither party filed for spousal support nor custody claims. Instead, they’ve been working together to resolve the issues amicable, and both parties hope that the spirit of cooperation continues into the future. “I am very relieved that our divorce has been finalized, and I look forward to the New Year, focusing on the children,” Kate said in a statement. Her relief and brighter outlook was echoed by former husband Jon, whose lawyer noted that his client is “optimistically looking forward to the new year, when he can join hand-in-hand with his former wife to pursue an amiable and a cordial and a cooperative effort in the role of mom and dad.” |
