As if there weren’t enough drama already on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, TV star Kate Walsh is facing some new complications in her real-life divorce. Walsh’s soon-to-be ex, Alex Young, has brought Disney/ABC president Stephen McPherson into the melee.
A May 20 report on TMZ.com says that McPherson received a subpoena from Young’s legal team, requesting a deposition to testify about Walsh’s financial situation. Young, the co-president of production at 20th Century Fox studios, appears to feel that Walsh isn’t being entirely honest about her earnings from her role as Dr. Montgomery on Private Practice during the marriage. According to Young’s divorce attorney, Jeff Sturman, McPherson has “unique” knowledge of Walsh’s situation.
In addition, Sturman and Young have subpoenaed financial documents from The Walt Disney Company.
“At the time of Ms. Walsh acquiring the role on Private Practice,” TMZ quoted from the Disney Company’s lawyers’ response, “Mr. McPherson was not running ABC Studios.” As a result, Disney says, Young and Sturman are “harassing” McPherson.
The Walt Disney Company has filed legal documents requesting a court order to block the deposition. However, they are willing to send an “underling” to the deposition, according to TMZ. The case will come to court in July.
Walsh, 41, and Young, 37, separated in November after only 14 months of marriage.
