Don’t expect any couch-jumping this time. Citing irreconcilable differences, Katie Holmes has filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, after almost six years of marriage.
“Tom is very sad about it and is concentrating on the kids,” Cruise’s lawyer, Bert Fields, told CNN today.
Meanwhile, Holmes’ attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, called the divorce “a personal and private matter for Katie and her family” in a press statement. He added: “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it has always been, her daughter’s best interest.”
Holmes, 33, is reportedly seeking “primary residential” custody of their six-year-old daughter, Suri, and in the divorce documents, Holmes is reportedly asking for a “suitable amount” of child support and for a division of property—although the couple has a prenuptial agreement based on California Law.
This is will be the third divorce for Cruise, 50. In 1990, he divorced from Mimi Rogers. He was then married to Nicole Kidman for 11 years; the couple divorced in 2001.
