As if Lindsay Lohan’s personal life weren’t filled with enough tabloid fodder, now it turns out that the “Rumors” are true: her relationship with British singer-songwriter and DJ Samantha Ronson has fallen apart. The 22-year-old actor and singer told E! News on April 6: “We are taking a brief break, so I can focus on myself.”
Lohan and Ronson’s 15-month fling has had many moments of turbulence, but it came to a head on April 3, when no less than five security guards reportedly refused to grant Lohan entry into a Ronson family party at Bar Marmont in Los Angeles. According to an OK! source, security at the party (a launch for Ronson’s sister’s clothing line) had specific orders not to admit Lohan, although they welcomed several other celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Jewel, and Sting.
Lohan and Ronson reunited later at a Chateau Marmont after-party, according to E! News. However, reports surfaced the next day that a locksmith had come by to change the locks on Ronson’s Los Angeles home, where Lohan had been living recently.
According to insiders, Ronson’s family has been pursuing a private “smear campaign” against Lohan. One source told E! Online: “A posse of people [has] been pushing her to leave Lindsay since day one. They make Lindsay out to be an outcast and a bully, or a wacko.” Another source added: “Samantha has been put in a position of consistently having to choose a dinner without Lindsay or not going at all. Their childish games are pathetic and all mean-spirited.”
For her own part, Lohan has accused Ronson, 31, of cheating on her. Her recent Twitter comments include, “I was right all along. Cheat” and “being cheated on does wonders to you [sic]”.
After several months of media speculation, Lohan finally admitted to her relationship with Ronson in the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar. She told the magazine that she was not a lesbian but “maybe” bisexual. On Lohan’s side, only her father has disapproved of the relationship openly.
Lindsay Lohan began her career as a child fashion model. She later landed a role on the NBC soap Another World, and her film credits include remakes of The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, as well as Mean Girls, A Prairie Home Companion, and Bobby. She also has had various cameos on the sitcom Ugly Betty. Her hit singles include “Rumors”, “Over”, and “Bossy”.
