Two of television’s most currently visible stars gave marriage a shot, but it officially hasn’t worked out. Two-time Emmy Award-nominee Elisabeth Moss, who stars as copywriter Peggy Olson on the AMC smash hit Mad Men, submitted a divorce filing on Monday, making her split from Saturday Night Live comedian Fred Armisen official.
The couple has been married for less than a year. Moss, 28, entered their date of separation as June 26.
Moss cited irreconcilable differences in her petition. According to Star magazine, she wants to prevent Armisen from getting spousal support. No other details of the case have become public.
Neither spouse appears to be wasting any time as far as moving on is concerned. Moss is reportedly dating Edin Gali, a Bosnian actor, while Armisen, 43, has been seeing SNL castmate Abby Elliott, 23, since last month.
Armisen and Moss met in October 2008, when the latter was a guest star on SNL along with Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm. They became engaged the following January and married last October 25. Armisen was previously married to British singer-songwriter Sally Timms.
Fred Armisen joined Saturday Night Live in 2002; he has also had guest spots on 30 Rock and The Sarah Silverman Program, among other shows. He has a cameo role in the acclaimed new comedy movie Easy A, and he will play Brainy in the Smurfs movie scheduled for release next year.
Elisabeth Moss has played Peggy on Mad Men since 2007. She also played Zoey Bartlet on The West Wing, and her film credits include Girl, Interrupted, The Attic and Get Him to the Greek.
