Mandy Moore’s relationship with Ryan Adams seemed to have fizzled last year, but it turns out Moore has decided “I Wanna Be with You” after all. The two singer-songwriters are now engaged, reports say.
Moore, 24, was spotted with a diamond engagement ring on her hand in a Los Angeles grocery store on February 11, according to world entertainment news network. Her publicist, Jillian Fowkes, then confirmed the engagement to People.
“She is so excited,” a friend of Moore’s told Life & Style magazine. “It’s been a whirlwind. She’s really happy.”
Moore and Adams started seeing each other in December 2007. They broke up last July, reportedly because Adams, 34, couldn’t deal with Moore’s celebrity lifestyle. “Mandy is one of those genuinely sweet, angelic people you wish to meet your whole life,” the Heartbreaker told Us magazine at the time. “Unfortunately, I am allergic to paparazzi and have found the best antidote to that sort of nonsense is staying behind the guitar and typewriter.”
After the split, Moore briefly reunited with an old fling, DJ Adam Goldstein (better known as DJ AM), after his plane crash in South Carolina in September. Their relationship ended in December, however. Then last week, according to E! Online, Adams posted a photo on his blog of him with Moore, taken during the Sundance Film Festival; he later removed the photo.
In the past, Moore also has been linked romantically to actor Zach Braff and tennis pro Andy Roddick, while Adams has previously dated Winona Ryder and Parker Posey.
Ryan Adams started his music career as the frontman for alternative-country group Whiskeytown, and he began his solo career after the band split in 1999. He is best known for his 2001 single “New York, New York“, which won a Grammy. He joined the band The Cardinals in 2005, although last month he announced plans to quit the group after their last concert this coming March. In April, Akashic Books will publish Adams’ first book of poetry and short fiction, Infinity Blues.
Mandy Moore’s next album, Amanda Leigh, is due for release in May. Her songs include “Candy”, “I Wanna Be with You”, and “In My Pocket”, and her film credits as an actor include The Princess Diaries, Saved!, Because I Said So, and License to Wed.
