He’s the creepiest, skinniest goth rocker out there, and you really have to wonder what it is exactly that gorgeous ladies such as Rose McGowan, Dita Von Teese, and Evan Rachel Wood have seen in him. But Marilyn Manson must have something going on. Reports are now saying that Manson and Wood may have resumed their relationship.
A New York Post item on February 24 stated that a source from the paper had spotted Wood and Manson leaving a Los Angeles hotel together. The witness told the Post that Manson exited the W hotel on the morning of February 22 and “said he was waiting for his girlfriend”. Shortly afterward, Wood, 21, came out and the pair entered a waiting car.
Manson was married to model and burlesque artist Von Teese for a year before she filed for divorce in December 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. She later claimed that he was having an extramarital affair with Wood, who was only 19 at the time. “I get the impression he thinks I was unsupportive,” Von Teese told the Sunday Telegraph at the time, “but the truth is I wasn’t supportive of his lifestyle, and someone else came along who was.”
The divorce was finalized in December 2007 as Manson continued seeing Wood. They broke up last October, however, after the rocker allegedly tried to kick Wood’s unemployed brother out of her house and onto the street. “It was the tipping point,” BANG Showbiz quoted a source as saying. “Evan was fed up with how controlling and emotionally abusive Marilyn was.”
After the breakup, rumors linked Wood to actor Mickey Rourke, with whom she co-starred in the critically acclaimed movie The Wrestler, but she strongly denied the hookup. Manson, 40, was rumored to be seeing model Isani Griffith.
Evan Rachel Wood received a Golden Globe Award nomination in 2004 for her performance in the controversial indie film Thirteen. Other film credits include Running with Scissors and Across the Universe, and she also appeared in the video for Manson’s “Heart-Shaped Glasses”. This year, she has a role in Manson’s upcoming horror film Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll.
Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, formed his band in 1989 and released his first album in 1994. His hits include “The Dope Show”, “Disposable Teens”, “Personal Jesus”, and cover versions of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” and Gloria Jones’ “Tainted Love”. His seventh album, The High End of Low, is expected to come out in May.
