Mayim Bialik Files for Divorce

Mayim Bialik, who appeared in the 90s sitcomBlossomand is currently one of the stars ofThe Big Bang Theory, has filed for divorce.

The 36-year-old actress announced her split from husband Michael Stone on the parenting websiteKveller, where Bialik has a blog.

“After much consideration and soul-searching,” wrote Bialik, “Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to ‘Irreconcilable Differences’ (emphasis in original). Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly.”

The soon-to-be-ex couple have two boys, Miles, 7, and Frederick, 4.

Bialik also took a proactive swipe against those who may be sharpening their claws, ready to credit her domestic difficulties to her outspoken advocacy of “attachment parenting.”

“The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision,” wrote Bialik, “relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose,. The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible. Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that’s what we are focusing on. Our privacy has always been important and is even more so now, and we thank you in advance for respecting it as we negotiate this new terrain.”
