Thomas Jane may have played The Punisher onscreen, but his personal life is giving him a far worse beating than he’s ever given to a bad guy. First, he got arrested for DUI last March and received a year’s probation for it (as well as a fine and an order to attend alcohol-education classes) six months later. And now, it looks like his marriage is in tatters too.
Jane’s wife of two and a half years, Medium star Patricia Arquette, has filed for divorce, according to news reports beginning January 5. Documents filed with Los Angeles Superior Court reveal that she has cited the ever-popular irreconcilable differences.
According to E! Online, Arquette is seeking sole legal and physical custody of the couple’s daughter, five-year-old Harlow Olivia Calliope, with Jane allowed visitation privileges.
This is the second marriage and divorce for both stars. They wed in June 2006 (after four years of engagement) in Venice’s Palazzo Contarini. Arquette, 40, was married to Nicholas Cage from 1995 to 2001; Jane has been married to Dutch actor Rutger Hauer’s daughter, Aysha Hauer, and has also been engaged to former The Wonder Years star Olivia d’Abo.
Patricia Arquette has won an Emmy for her role as psychic Allison DuBois on NBC’s Medium; she has also starred in the movies A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, True Romance, Lost Highway, Bringing out the Dead, and Fast Food Nation. Thomas Jane, 39, also starred in last year’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist and won critical acclaim for his portrayal of baseball legend Mickey Mantle in the 2001 HBO movie 61*.
