Apparently the surreal life has just become a little more real for motocrosser Carey Hart. Or shall we say, he’s no longer “seeing Pink”? The latter’s publicist announced on February 19 that the edgy couple have separated and will divorce.
The rock singer, 28, and the racer, 32, have been married for two years.
“Pink and Carey Hart have separated,” Michele Schweitzer, Pink’s representative, has told People. “This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another. While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger.”
Reports surfaced last August that the marriage was in serious trouble, but Hart told the Las Vegas Review-Journal at the time, “It’s just a nasty rumor. Everything’s fine.” He also called the stories “just a bunch of trash talk”.
Pink and Hart (the latter should not be confused with ’80s Canadian pop star Corey Hart, of course) met in 2001 at the X Games. They temporarily split up in 2003. At a 2005 race in Mammoth Lakes, California, Pink proposed to Hart by holding up a “Will you marry me?” sign in the middle of his race — which almost made him cause an accident. They married in Costa Rica on January 7, 2006.
Pink, whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, first became a star in 2000 with her album Can’t Take Me Home and hits “There You Go” and “Most Girls”. Her most successful album to date is 2001’s M!ssundaztood, featuring “Get the Party Started”.
Hart has been a pro racer since the age of 17. He also starred in the fifth season of VH1 reality show The Surreal Life and has appeared in the movies XXX and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. In addition, Hart owns a tattoo shop in Las Vegas, Hart & Huntington, which the A&E reality series Inked documented in 2005.
