Looks like the marital problems between TV star Kate Walsh and 20th Century Fox studio executive Alex M. Young are no longer Private Practice. A website for The Insider has reported that Young filed for divorce on December 9, citing irreconcilable differences.
According to documents filed with a Los Angeles court, the couple separated on November 22 (although E! Online says they’d been seen together two weeks earlier at the Tao Nightclub’s third-anniversary party in Las Vegas). They have been married for only 15 months and have no children.
A spokesperson for Walsh, who portrays Dr. Addison Montgomery in the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Private Practice on ABC, released a statement: “Papers have been filed to amicably end the marriage of executive Alex Young and actress Kate Walsh… The couple remain[s] on friendly terms and sincerely hope[s] the media will respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
Walsh and Young married in September 2007, after dating for only four months. The wedding took place at the Ojai Presbyterian Church in Ojai, California (north of L.A.). Kate Beckinsale, Katherine Heigl, and Chandra Wilson were among the 100 or so attendees.
Kate Walsh, 41, played Dr. Montgomery on Grey’s Anatomy from 2005 to 2007, after which the character moved to Private Practice. She began her career as a model in Japan and later had roles on The Drew Carey Show, The Norm Show, and sketches on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Young is one of the Fox studio’s top-ranking executives.
