Most couples announce their divorce by letting their relatives and friends know one by one privately over time. When it comes to celebrities, you often hear about it officially via their publicist. It was considered a first, when the Toronto larger-than-life Bronfmans held a party to announce their separation.
Then, there is Russia’s President Putin and his wife who announced their divorce on TV and with a smile.
The Putin Divorce: What You Need to Know
Last Thursday evening, President Vladimir Putin and his wife of 29 years, Lyudmilla Putina announced their divorce on state television, after they attended a ballet at the Great Kremlin Palace. Apparently a reporter approached the couple and asked if they were living apart, and Mr. Putin confirmed that it was true but referenced his work and lifestyle as the head of state to be the reason, and his statement was confirmed by Mrs. Putin who said they hardly see each other. For the past several years, the two have rarely been seen together, this “interview” with a reporter appeared to be staged.
It has been rumored that President Putin is seeing a Russian Olympic gymnastic gold medalist half his age. On Friday, a spokesperson for the president announced that the president is not in a romantic relationship and restated the Mr. Putin’s busy workload and responsibilities are to blame. It is almost never well received when someone divorces a wife of 30 years to be with another person half their age, whether it is in North America or Russia. This is possibly the best spin on the Putin divorce..
