The Local, Sweden’s English newspaper reports that following a domestic dispute that involved police, Paul Anka has filed for divorce from his Swedish reality-television star wife, Anna Anka (nee Anna Yeager). An argument allegedly erupted over the firing of one of their domestic help a day prior. Ventura Police arrived at the couple’s California estate after two calls to 911.
Reportedly, Anna told police that Anka had pulled a gun on her the night before, but after offering video surveillance to police that showed no evidence of the accusation, the police left without filing charges. An unnamed source who has purported insight into the couple’s relationship stated, “They’ve been fighting like cats and dogs recently.” Married in 2008, this is not the couple’s first run-in with the law. Anka refused to press charges last year after Anna was arrested for felony domestic battery. She allegedly threw ice at Anka that forced him to seek medical attention. Born in Ottawa, Canada, Anka is a former teen idol from the fifties and sixties and is the songwriter behind such hugely successful hits as Tom Jones’ “She’s a Lady”, Sinatra’s “My Way” and most recently wrote “This is It” for Michael Jackson. Anna Anka, recently named the Queen of Swedish reality TV had a staring role in the country’s program Svenska Hollywoodfruar (“Swedish Hollywood Wives”) and has been filming a six-part Christmas themed series for Sweden’s TV3.
