Jay A. Frank, a Senior Matrimonial Attorney at Aronberg Goldgehn, answers:
Is someone suspects that their spouse is hiding assets from them, what should they do?
Tracing assets is a difficult proposition. First you want to make sure, or at least have some degree of certainty, that there is something there to find at the end of the day. Otherwise, you’re going to spend money on a fool’s errand and it won’t work out very well. Generally, you need to involve some professionals, such as forensic accountants or other financial people. They can look at the documentation and determine whether or not it’s worthwhile to proceed, and if so, they’ll work on your behalf.
