It looks as though the economy isn’t the only thing that has grown in Turkey over the last few years – the divorce rate has jumped as well.
However, despite the increase – which family lawyers suggest is the result of increasing cases of domestic violence, extra-marital affairs, financial woes and an unsatisfying sex life – Turkey’s divorce rate is still relatively low among its European neighbours, with the UK hovering at 2.1%, Germany at 2.3%, Denmark at 2.7% and Latvia leading the way at 4.0%.
