Zooey Deschanel Finalizes Divorce

According to People magazine, New Girl star Zooey Deschanel has officially divorced fromDeath Cab for Cutie rocker Ben Gibbard. 

The couple separated (some might say ominously) on October 31, after Deschanel filed papers citing that “Unhappy and irreconcilable differences have arisen between the parties, which have caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage.” 

The papers further added, with the kind of clinical indifference that only legal documents seem capable of achieving, that “there is no possibility that counseling or mediation could save the marriage.”

So far, it’s unclear whether Deschanel will be on the hook for spousal support. Financial papers dug up last year by TMZ noted that she has a net worth of about $3 million, and earns nearly $100,000 a month.

For that kind of coin, one could likely take a Death Cab to Mars. Or, at least across Manhattan during rush hour.
